Theit Cat

I normally try NOT to post obsessive pictures of my cat Mia. I mean it's been months before this most recent picture this week.

But are you kidding me..... I was going to upload the pictures from last night and took my camera out of my NEW Theit bag, looked down and found this little monster.

Tell me.... how could I not take a picture of this and show it off?

Happy Happy Birthday Matt!

It was impossible for Matt (co-worker/friend) to NOT have a good birthday after the week/day he had.

He got a promotion yesterday (WAHOO) and he turns the big 3-0 this weekend!

Not only that he also bought a house recently and is about to get a puppy... shhh... we are working on easing him into this :)

So in order to celebrate his big birthday, we thought it would be a fun idea to get him a singing telegram.  When someone suggested this at first, I'm not going to lie, I thought it was a joke.  I mean how often have you ever heard some say that OR ever seen one? I never have! But heck, why not?

We requested a "Jane of the Jungle" telegram and asked for her to be conservative with her clothes since we do work in a big office after all. This is what we ended up with:

  1. A woman who is well beyond 45+
  2. Wearing a leopard leotard (with shiny nude tights and grandma sandals
  3. Who couldn't sing
It made me realize I could do this as a part time job if this lady could do it.  One of you probably could to considering I bet you are all better singers than both her and I combined!

Surprise Matt! We got you a 50 year old for your birthday!
Matt: What in the world is she planning on doing with that monkey?
Matt getting a monkey kiss
Jane giving matt a jungle hickey.... interesting!
Jane: Please marry me, no one will love my singing as much as you
Me Jane gonna rip this phone book
ARHHHH....
Jane: AHA I did it Matt: Holy crap did you see that?
This woman is a whackadoo

Birthday Boy!
Oh and P.S. yes you see Coors Light on his desk. He loves it and someone brought it as a birthday gift.

Happy Early Birthday Matt!

Hello Plaza.

I had a great evening with the BF tonight.

Right after work we got a massage on the Plaza to relieve some stress and kick back and relax. We were both in desperate need of one.  The masseuses oddly told both of us that we were already "relaxed" and we both looked at them like are you crazy.  I guess what they meant was that our legs weren't tense (duh), but our backs were a wreck (duh), I could have told them that! Guess all that work at a computer all day does a body bad :)

After dinner we ran home to rinse off and get ready for dinner. Our initial plan was to walk next store to P.F Chang's, but then quickly realized we were both disgusting.  When I looked at Walt and asked if I'd be able to just rinse off instead of washing my hair he looked at me like... nice try, you need to wash everything. Dang it!

After getting all cleaned up we headed over the P.F Chang's for some lettuce wraps (I had a free coupon you may have seen a while back), Chang's Spicy Chicken, and Mongolian Beef. SO GOOD.

When we were done, I realized I had forgotten to take my picture for today.  Walt suggested we walk across the street to the fountains that were filled with people taking pictures.  My mom also pointed out that Kansas City was the city of fountains. Apparently I need to do my research.  I haven't done ANY pictures of fountains in KC! So here I am.  Finally getting in my fountain picture.  But what I really love are the clouds.

I See, You See.

To go along with the disgusting heat wave we have going on here in Kansas City, we chose the theme of our "I See, You See" to be: HOT/HEAT

Jumping right in today... my "hot" picture couldn't be more perfect to show what I feel like every time I walk outside lately.

Walt grilled out for dinner and made steaks and asparagus on the grill along with a baked potato.  While they were all steaming hot, what could be more fitting than the burning hot grill itself? I swear, I'd be poor if it wasn't for Walt and his great grilling abilities.  What a good man!

Now onto what Megan saw this week:

While it's hot hot hot outside, I was also eating something oh-so-spicy hot, delicious.  Spicy verde salsa atop home-made tortilla chips and an egg sunny side up.  Might sound pretty simple, but the perfect blend of all these major aspects and the spices made for a culinary explosion!

Yummy looking isn't it?

Hungry Hungry Hippo.

Or Mia.

You remember my kitty Mia, right?

She is basically the biggest spaz you will ever meet.  But so am I, so we make a perfect couple.

She loves food. I love food. However, I don't go through the extent of lying on my back clawing at my plate like she does.

Here is a little peek into Mia's life....

  1. Wake up at the crack of dawn, literally.  4:30 a.m.
  2. Attempt to wake mom up by clawing at the window shades to make juuuuuust enough noise to make me crack my eyes to see what's going on.
  3. Her automatic feeder goes off at 7:00 a.m. (this was my attempt at getting more sleep in hopes she would realize I don't feed her, the machine does, therefore I don't get woken up in the wee hours of the morning... WRONG).
  4. She sleeps ALL day long on my bed
  5. 5:30 p.m. rolls around I'm on my way home from work and her feeder goes off again
  6. Here's where she gets sneaky...While I'm hanging out watching TV doing my own thing, Mia recently figured out that she can stick her claw up the feeder and shake it just enough to get pebbles to fall out.
NO WONDER SHE IS GETTING SO FAT!!!

All this time I thought she just slept all day when in fact she figured this little trick out.  Little monster! So note to all you cat owners, automatic feeders are good for one thing. Feeding your pet during scheduled times when you aren't at home.  The bad thing, once your cat finally realizes how to get the food out for him/herself, you can expect them to start packing on the pounds!

That Time of My Life

Is happening RIGHT NOW as all my friends are getting engaged, married, having babies.... Therefore I get to practice all my picture taking more than usual as I see it!

This weekend Walt and I went our friends Bobby and Anne's country themed engagement party.

Leading up to the party Walt had mentioned something about the party being country themed, so what do I think...I think I have to dress country.  Wouldn't you?  I come to find out that the theme WAS country, however, that didn't mean I had to dress country.  Good thing because I own nothing of the sort. Not even cowboy boots unfortunately for me.

Back to the real reason for celebrating... Bobby and Anne. They are so, so cute together.  When you watch them you know that they truly love each other. That is one of my favorite parts about my friends getting married, when you get just see the love between them and how happy they are. These two are getting hitched over Labor Day weekend so all the festivities are kicking into full gear (I'm helping throw another party later this Summer I'll tell you all about). I wanted to share a little fun that they had at the party to top off the great weekend I had.  Hope you all had a fabulous weekend as well and your ready to kick off the new week!!!

This is Theit.

It's about time!

I've been on a non-stop search for the perfect camera bag.  One that is not to big, not to small, can be a camera bag without looking like a camera bag (that was very important to me). Meggy from ChasingDavies got this super cute Theit camera bag when we first started off with our photography classes in February.  I was obsessed with it, and when I finally made the decision that I wanted to get it after drooling all over hers, I come to find out they are all sold out!!!

Total bummer.

I put my name on their wait list back in May and the day finally came. I found out last week that they were doing pre-orders and that the bags were again available.  I immediately went and ordered the bag. No waiting around this time! I had to have it. With that being said, I came home from work today to find my Theit bag sitting on my doorstep. LOVE IT!

Go ahead... be jealous ;)

I Got a Turkey

No... not really.  But speaking in a bowling since I sorta did.

I had fun co-workers, laid back afternoon, and fun co-workers.

Today we had our "media outing," that being said our department had a little fun with just ourselves.

We headed over to Lucky Strike, which you may have heard of, to have a good time.

Other than my inability to roll a bowling ball, I had a fabulous time.  To brief you on my little outing I wanted to share a few photos..

I See, You See.

Welcome to "I See, You See" Tuesday.

This week's theme is: MONEY

We all love money don't we? I can't name a person that doesn't for that matter. Not that I think that money is what makes people, happy, but it sure doesn't hurt!

For my picture today, I had Walt help me out.  I kept trying to get some photos indoors and the lighting in my little baby house is stupidly dark so I ventured outside on the front porch. I knew Walt had a ziplock bag of money so asked him to bring it over in hopes of combining it with my ziplock baggy of money to mesh together hundreds of coins to make a cool picture. Well... that didn't work.  My creative juices were running low on power when trying to come up with something creative, so I thought I'd share a funny story about Walt's ziplock baggy of money.

A month or so ago Walt had taken one of his ziplock bags of change (yes, he has multiple) and put it in his console to take to the bank.  He had left his car outfront of my house one weekend and when he came to get his car he got in the car and realized his stuff was thrown everywhere! He was a genius and forgot to lock his car. He thought his nice sunglasses were stolen and his ipod was still in the car, so for the life of him he could figure out what the person had stolen.  When he got home and thought a little harder, he looked inside his console to find that his big bag of change was gone! Probably $50+ worth.  Our assumption: A homeless man came checking for unlocked cars.  To top it off, he was a spaz and had his sunglasses somewhere else so he didn't lose those! Phew!

As for Megan, here's what she has to say about her photo this week:

One Valentine's Day, years ago,  I gave my husband a giant bottle of Crown Royal - his favorite liquor at the time.  Ever since he finished the liquid, he's used the washed out bottle to collect his loose change.  Growing up, my dad also collected his loose change in an over sized liquor bottle.  Do your guys in your life do this?  At least it made for a cool photo!

Mea Culpa!

For those of you who don't know what this phrase means, it means "My Mistake" or "My Fault."

While at home this weekend my mom, sister and I were running around all over the place doing errands.

Every time we left the house, I couldn't help but notice the neighbors across the street were also getting some chores done around the house.  Their laundry.

Now, while I'm all for hang drying my clothes (majority of my pants and nice shirts), grandma panties is taking it to a whole new level. My mom told me NOT to take the picture because they might see me the first time we left the house, but after leaving for the second time that day I just couldn't resist. My mistake that I took someone's grandma panties for granted.  They were just hanging there minding their own business and there I was snapping away!

So be careful when you choose what you want to hang on your clothing line. Someone like me who sees this as an opportune time to take a photo may display it for all to see, especially because I have a weird sense of humor and thought this was just too funny to pass up.

One BIG Happy Family

After showing you this picture need I say more?

From Left to Right: Beau (Mom's), Enzo (Katie's), Max (Mom's), Harley (Katie's)
These are the four perpetrators that torture Mia every time I come to Tulsa. How perfect would it have been if I  could squeeze Mia in there?

Taking this picture was quite the task.  Getting four dogs to sit close enough and look normal for long enough to take a picture is MUCH harder than one would think.  I had my sister, Katie, standing over me holding dog treats.  Max and Beau had zero idea what the word sit meant, so they usually stood on their back two paws begging for the treats, while Harley observed the other three dogs looking stupid for believing they would actually get the treat BEFORE the picture, and Enzo running off every five minutes.

The result.  My idea of perfection of a family dog portrait.

Meet Enzo.

You ask another animal on her blog?

I ask the same thing. My sister, Katie, decided she wanted ANOTHER dog.  Yes, ANOTHER dog. She's had her hands full with Harley for the past two years, and is about to start her first job as a nurse in OKC, I told her no, my mom told her no.... but no matter what we said we couldn't convince her that getting a second boston terrier was a bad idea.

Que Enzo.

Regardless of what anyone thought, Katie made the big decision to adopt another dog.  This time she was a little smarter and adopted a boston terrier that was a year and a half and actually potty trained.

He is bulging blue eyes (little creepy when you first look at him not going to lie) and is so tiny.  Compared to Harley he is about half the size.

So yes another animal. But not just any animal. His name is Enzo and he is now part of my family which  now consists of four dogs, a cat (Mia), my mom and sister.

Camp VML

Yes I am talking about Summer Camp. Well... not really.  This year I helped put on the Summer company party and after many weeks of planning and getting everything organized the day finally came.

We held the even at the KC Live! (Power and Light for those of you who are familiar with Kansas City), which is a HUGE venue.  Our company has seen tremendous growth since I've been here that we are pretty limited on venues which will hold everyone, but by golly we found one and it was perfect.  It had the perfect amount of space making us feel big, but not too big.  Had drinking games going on, food for everyone, and of course drinks for everyone. What would a company party be without a few drinks, right?

I will say getting up in front of nearly 400 people is just as scary as I thought it would be, but I'm glad I did it and had fabulous help to make the whole day go as smoothly as I could have imagined.

Of course I was a little photo bug at the party and got some candid shots of some fellow VMLers.

Our MoF (Ministry of Fun) group that helped with the party - Can you find me?
A little beer pong to get the juices flowing!

Just a Walk in the Park

With little Mille. You remember her, right?

Katie, Kara, Sarah, and myself gave Millie to Mandi and Matt as their engagement gift.  My present to Mandi (along with a couple of other things) was to watch Millie while they went on their honeymoon.

Boy did I underestimate how much Millie would grow since April! She is still cute as a button though.

I knew while I was babysitting the little bugger that I wanted to have a mini photo shoot with her. She made it pretty easy considering she is one happy little puppy.  She is 100x more rambunctious than the last time I saw her so Walt and I had to take her to the park to wear her out before bedtime.

We first tested to see how she would do without her leash on by having me run ahead and see if she would chase me.  Mission accomplished. After doing that little test trial we decided to try her off leash.  I had Walt hold her as I ran away so there was some distance between us.  Then I yelled GO and Millie came flying!!!

Of course I took cutesy pictures of her at the park, but I thought these were just too funny and wanted to share first:

Here was her best shot, AFTER we pooped her out!

I See, You See.

You know what day of the week it is.... I See, You See Tuesday.

Our theme this week: FRIENDSHIP

Boy did I luck out.  As most of you probably saw I was in my friend Mandi's wedding this weekend.  I was pumped that we picked this as our theme this week because what is a wedding without having great people and friends surrounding you?

At the rehearsal dinner I was trying out the different settings on my camera as the sun was setting.  I had three of my best friends visiting from out of town and it was the first time all of us were together (including Mandi who still lives in Kansas City with me- well not WITH me...but you know what I mean) since our girls trip in Austin May 2010.  Sarah was visiting from Portland, OR.  Katie was visiting from New York City, NY. Kara was visiting from Denver, CO. Both Katie and Kara recently moved to their new homes recently so it's been weird not seeing them as frequently as I used to so I was so thrilled to spend an entire weekend with them.

Here is what I saw:

Here is what Megan saw when she was at her friend Dana's bachelorette party this weekend:

This is Dana and Dell during Dana's bachelorette weekend.  You can always count on a friend to share a jumbo margarita.

In keeping with the Friendship theme and the oh-so popular friendship bracelet trend, Meggy is hosting a friendship bracelet swap starting tomorrow!  It'll be a great way to meet a new "friend" (aka blogger) and add something fun to your wrist.

5th Time is a Charm

5th what you ask?  Wedding! I have five down and three to go!

This was the wedding that I was actually IN this Summer for my friend Mandi.  Mandi and Matt have been dating since high school, that's almost 11 years! How insane does that sound? I've never known Mandi without dating Matt and I couldn't imagine them NOT together.  They are a perfect match.  They are both cool as cucumbers (stole that phrase from The Bachelor tonight).

I have never seen such a laid back couple prior to the wedding as they were this weekend. DJ didn't show up until 30 minutes until we were supposed to start the reception, nope Mandi didn't panic.  Little flower girl had a minor breakdown prior to walking the aisle, nope Mandi just smiled and knew it was all going to be perfect.  It was remarkable really.

Mandi and Matt got married at Mildale Farm which is about 45 minutes outside of Kansas City at this beautiful farm which was about 600 acres. It was basically picture perfect. Driving up to the farm I was so pumped to see what pictures I'd get over the weekend.  Little did I know I was going to end up with nearly 500 pictures. Good. Bad. Funny. Romantic. You name it.

Here is a little (or a big) peak into Mandi and Matt's wedding.
